This image is the culmination of 48
hours of total exposure time through a cooled astronomical CCD camera. The
image is a mosaic of 16 individual frames. The area in the sky is in the
constellation Cygnus and is just to the east of the star Deneb. It is a
glorious section of the sky with giant dust and gas clouds radiating light
predominantly in the Hydrogen Alpha line of the spectrum. The unique shape
of the nebula has an unmistakable resemblance to the North American content.
Next to the North America nebula lies the Pelican nebula. Can you make out
the beak pointing downward to the left? This print is available in many
sizes and formats. The prints have my "no-fade guarantee" for the life
of the print.
